Movie Monday: G.I.Joe Retaliation Delayed, Thor 2 Villain Casted, Men in Black 3 Beats Avengers

Hello guys! Happy Memorial Day to everyone. Let’s not forget our veterans and active duty soldiers who are fighting each and every day for our freedom. They are true patriots, and they shouldn’t be forgotten. I don’t want to switch gears and get to the news and our weekly stuff, because today is a special day, but I have to carry on. Leave your questions for this week’s Q and A here. “But Ddog! I want to hear the news!” Calm down. It will open in a new tab. I’ve gotcha covered 🙂 Let’s get started.

G. I. Joe Retaliation was originally supposed to be released on June 29, 2012. That’s next month. But it’s been delayed. And I don’t mean by a couple of months, I mean a year. G. I. Joe Retaliation is now going to be released on March 29, 2013. That’s next year. But why? Why is it being delayed? Did a cast member die? Was there a horrible accident? Was the footage damaged? Nope. They just want to convert the film to 3D. The idiots say that Battleship didn’t do well, and it wasn’t in 3D, and The Avengers did well, and it was in 3D. Therefore, if this movie is in 3D, it will do well. That’s not an exact quote, but that’s their mentality. Excuse the above use of the word ‘idiots.’ News is not supposed to be opinionated. But that’s how I role.

Next, the villain in Thor 2 has been casted. Who’s the new bad guy? We don’t know yet. But we do know who’s playing him. It is none other than Mads Mikkelsen. Who? This guy:

He played Le Chiffre in Casino Royale, the bad guy with bad asthma and the eye that was always bleeding. This guy owned that role, and I’m excited to see him take on Thor. Loki is still going to be included in Thor 2 as a main antagonist, but thankfully, there’s another threat other than the god of mischief.

Lastly, the Avengers is no longer #1 at the box office. Men in Black 3 dethroned it with its gross of 55 million dollars. The Avengers got nearly 37 million this week. Still, the Avengers has raked in a mammoth amount of money, despite Men in Black 3. This isn’t a stain on its reputation by any means. It’s gross could still feed Africa.

That’s all for this week! Don’t forget to leave your questions for me to answer in this week’s Q and A 🙂

  1. The GI Joe delay makes absolutely no sense to me from a business standpoint. Sure, films have had their release dates pushed back before for 3D conversion, but a month before its original release date? After all the money they previously spent on marketing? Makes me think there’s another issue here.

    • Exactly. I think they may even had a Superbowl spot! They’ve lost as much money as it’s going to make, if not more. 3D is the reason they’re spoon feeding us to explain this delay, but there’s probably some corporate gears working behind the scenes. Thanks for dropping by! 🙂
