A Look Back at Black Ops 2 DLC

This year’s DLC season has come to an end. Black Ops 2’s DLC was strong, and with Ghosts right around the corner, I felt that it would be appropriate to take a look back at the best and worst of the year, from multiplayer maps to zombie stages. I want to hear YOUR best and worst in the comments below. Here we go!

First up are the multiplayer maps. In green are outstanding maps, in orange are decent maps, and in red are poor maps. Keep in mind that these are MY opinions, not what I claim to be fact.

        Pack 1:           Pack 2:          Pack 3:        Pack 4:

Hydro           Magma       Uplink           Pod

   Downhill        Encore         Rush            Frost

        Grind             Vertigo        Cove             Takeoff

 Mirage          Studio          Detour          Dig

As for the zombie maps:

Die Rise         Mob of the     Buried        Origins

                    Dead

Favorite map from each pack:

            Mirage           Vertigo            Uplink           Frost

Favorite zombie map:

                                          Buried

It’s been a promising year. 56% of the maps were exceptionally great. 31% are decent, complete maps. (Orange is by no means a negative indicator. Orange indicates maps that are fine in the rotation, though not my personal favorites.) 12% were poor maps. That means that I enjoyed 87% of the maps. I was personally satisfied by Black Ops 2’s DLC.

The first pack hit every corner of the square: Water, Snow, “fun”, and Sand. It also released the Peacekeeper, making many of those who were indecisive about purchasing the Season Pass give in.

The second pack introduced the very first re-skin of the DLC season, as well as Lava/Fire centric map, a clean-cut, glass/white-walls map, and another “fun” map.

The third pack brought a second re-skin to the table, along with a “fun” map, a beach map, and a bridge map.

The final pack contained two re-skins, one of which was a re-skin of a previous DLC map. It also contained another snow map and a grungy street map.

The first zombie map was centered around mystery, whereas the second was all about the stars that were animated along with the Alcatraz setting. The third, while simple in delivery, was all about the Wild West, and the concluding zombie map was a complicated look back at the origins of zombies, which were far more intriguing while they were speculated.

What do you think? Were you impressed by this year’s DLC content? I want your opinions. 🙂

Think a Bit Thursday: Call of Duty Camo Ideas

Treyarch released some new camos recently. I thought that it would be fun to pitch some ideas of my own. Be sure to contribute your own ideas in the comments below!

Swiss– They made a bacon camo. Why not make one that features cheese?

Love– The girls of the COD community would like this one.

Type O– A bloody good camo to put those Bloodthirsties where your mouth it.

Flatline– This camo will show the future of your enemies. A grid background with a line design would work nicely.

Shocking– Lightning is badass. Period.

Flood– This would be an Asian-styled camo, much like Cherry Blossom.

Stalker– This camo would come with another red-dot sight, just to troll players.

Hypnotize– It’s not really moving. Or is it?

Glass– This camo would reflect stuff. Hence the name ‘Glass.’

Invisible– Your hands conform as if they’re holding a gun, but no gun is there! Genius! People would love to pay 2 bucks for that!

Rope– You’ll have luck in your hands. Literally.

Those were just a handful of ideas. Now it’s YOUR turn. Which did you like the most from up here and what would you like to see put into the game? Let me know in the comments below!

BLACK OPS 2 IS HERE!!!

Ladies and gentlemen, Black Ops is here! Are you expecting my review for it? If so, you must be new here. I don’t review games until I have played it in full and experienced every mode at length. So this weekend is when you will likely get my review for it. I say likely because my computer has crashed and so I am, at the moment, technologically disabled. (Note to the wise-guys out there: I am not using the laptop that has crashed.) I am working on a system repair, and if you know anything about reviving computers, I could use your advice, because right now I don’t have any perks, and Quick Revive would really help me out.

So what are you thinking about Black Ops 2 so far? Let me know in the comments below.

The Call of Duty Perk Machine Songs

When you play Zombies, you are likely too busy killing zombies and reviving bad teammates to notice that the perk machines scattered around the maps each play a song. When you get a perk, you might hear some jingle around the machine, but you don’t stick around, because you need to run. Below, I have compiled all of the Perk Songs from all of the maps. Enjoy!

Juggernog

When you need some help to get by, something to make you feel strong. Reach for Juggernog tonight, Sugar seduction delight! When you need to feel big and strong, reach for Juggernog tonight!

Speed Cola

Your hands are slow, your movements sluggish, your lack of speed, just brings you anguish. Just take a sip, you will move faster. Just try it now! And speed is mastered! Press those lips against the only one that really moves you. Speed Cola speeds up your life!”

Quick Revive

Whenever things, been draggin’ you down, grabs you by the hair and pulls you to the ground, if you wanna get up, you need a little revive. If you wanna get up… YOU NEED A LITTLE REVIVE!

Double Tap Root Beer

Cowboys can’t shoot slow or they’ll end up below. When they need some help, they reach for the Root beer shelf (Ye-haa) Cowboys can’t shoot slow, or they’ll end up below, when they need some help, they reach for the Root beer shelf. YA THIRSTY PARTNER!?”

Stamin-Up

Stamina-min-Up! (x3) When you need some extra runnin’, when you need some extra time, when you want to keep on gunnin’, when you like a twist of lime. When you need to keep on moving, when you need a get-away, when you need to keep on groovin’, when you need that vitamin K, babe, you know you want me! Let’s run the extra mile! I’ll open your eyes and I’ll make you see! I’ll make it worth your while! Stamina-min-Up! Sounds like it’s Staaaaamin-Up time! Oh yeah, bring it baby. Bring it!”

PHD Flopper

PhD, the night-time scene. PhD, the streets are mean. PhD, the things I have seen, the good (PhD),the bad, and the in-between (Flopper). When you dive to prone, you are surely gonna own, PhD (Flopper)! When you dive to prone, it’s gonna shake ya to the bone, all the zombies gonna groan, ’cause of PhD! PhD, the feelin’s growing strong. PhD, so right that it feels wrong. PhD, like the chorus of a song (Flopper). PhD, not short but not too long. Slap your body to the floor, everybody needs some more, of your lovin’, your explosive lovin’. When you dive to prone, it’s gonna shake ya to the bone, all the zombies gonna groan, cause of PhD! (Flopper)! Damn straight!

Deadshot Daiquiri

To err is human, to forgive is divine. Well I’m not forgiving, and the error ain’t mine! They ain’t quite human; least they’re not to my eyes. One sip of this and I’ll give ’em the shock of their lives! Yeah, we got the guns and we got the bombs! In deadshot heaven, we pop skulls for fun! Zero in baby, zero on that spot, the hot spot baby, give it all you got! So quit complainin’, about your bad aimin’! Just try, try again for me! With the headshot power of Deadshot Daiquiri!

Mule Kick

Legend tells us of a man, a hero in a tortured land, where Senoritas lived in fear. There lonely nights in deep despair, he was EL BURRO! (Hee-Haw, Hee-Haw). Across the fields, across the plains. He ran so fast he dodged the rain. He was El Burro! He hurried in to save the day, gun in hand, in thrice they say. He was strong like a Mule, he was stubborn like a Mule, he even kicked like a Mule, El Burro! (El Burro!). A man not equal, so they say. But some and more, it’s just the way! He was El Burro! He was EL BURRO! EL BURRO!

So those are all of the Perk Songs! Note then when you get close to these machines while playing, a shortened version of the jingle is played. These are the full “songs.” Which is your favorite? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for reading! Stop by tomorrow for another Call of Duty post. It’s going to be  a big one!

A Week of Call of Duty. Brace yourselves.

Guys and gals, brace yourselves. Due to the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops on November 13th, I am going to have a Call of Duty marathon on Gamerscene, beginning tomorrow. What does this mean? Well, I will have a week of COD posts, likely one a day, with the exception to my review for Skyfall, which will be out this weekend. So 6 COD posts will be posted leading up to the 13th.

I know that I have quite a few followers who mainly follow me for gaming content, and I want to get them more involved. I have been focusing heavily on movies, and I am really trying to diversify my content for both my movie and videogame audiences, so prepare for a large wave of COD. Are you excited? Are you ready? Let me know in the comments below.

~Ddog

PS: For all the movie-goers out there, don’t feel left out. After this COD spree I’ll have a week of movie reviews 🙂
